Knee Injury & Weight Loss
Ringo started swim sessions in March 17 following an injury to one of his knees and on veterinary advice to lose a bit of weight. Apprehensive at first he started to settle into it. Initially he was reluctant to use his hind legs in the water, powering his way through the pool with his front legs – this was overcome by tickling his toes to provoke movement! Ringo is now more comfortable on his hind legs and the weekly cardiovascular exercise has helped him with his weight loss goal. Having such encouraging and enthusiastic owners has meant Ringo is now a very fit and happy dog. He looks forward to coming in for swim sessions, happily diving into the water for his tiny tennis ball. We thoroughly enjoy working with him.
We were recommended to take our dog to Bluewaters after a knee injury, and to help him to lose weight as well as general water confidence. We’ve been taking him since March this year and we’ve noticed a difference in him. He is now much better on his walks appears to be in less pain than before. He has lost weight (which the vets are very happy with) and Ringo is gradually becoming more confident around water, even jumping in the water himself on some occasions! We never thought we’d see that! Ringo now loves his sessions and his excitement at going to Bluewaters is lovely to see. Holly and Laura are fantastic with him and he really trusts and admires them. They don’t force him to do anything but give him gentle encouragement. Bluewaters has made a real difference to Ringo and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough.
