Case Study
Name: George
Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Age: 4 years old
Reason for Hydrotherapy
Condition: Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD)
Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Summary: George came to the centre for hydrotherapy as he was suffering from Osteochondritis Dissecans and also mild patella luxation (movement of the kneecap). George was receiving monthly injections of cartrophen and came for hydrotherapy sessions to build his muscles back up and to help ease the pain. Through a visit to Fitzpatrick Referrals a tiny fragment of bone was located in his leg that had been causing discomfort. The removal of this fragment coupled with regular hydrotherapy sessions means George is much more comfortable and is no longer receiving pain medication. George’s muscles have increased since he has been swimming, he has lost weight and he has also lost 10 centimetres from his waist since he started. His owner reports he is much happier in himself and gets around much better now. George is a very friendly dog and is a pleasure to have at our centre.
George my 4 year old King Charles Cavalier spaniel is diagnosed with OCD (which is a genetic joint condition) & arthritis in his elbow joints. He had been attending Bluewaters centre for hydrotherapy and I have no doubt that hydrotherapy has helped his mobility & overall fitness! He no longer limps, is a healthy weight (hydrotherapy plus good diet) & gets to play ball which is his favourite thing in life!! The staff are friendly & helpful – can’t recommend the centre enough!
